Why it works for kids
- Shallow water. We stay in 1 to 3 feet of water for about 85% of the tour, with guides paddling alongside.
- Slow pace. You are drifting and looking down far more than you are paddling.
- Safety kit. Every kayak carries life jackets, lights and a whistle.
- Something to look for. The glowing flats keep young eyes busy, and dip nets let kids help find things.
Ages and pricing
To add a child 5 or under, text us at 941-259-9713 instead of booking them online, and we will add them to your reservation.
How the kayaks work for families
Tours run on tandem kayaks, two people per kayak, so a parent and child paddle together. If you book an odd number, or someone needs a higher weight limit, we will arrange a solo kayak. Weight limits are 425 lbs for a tandem and 350 lbs for a solo. Larger-capacity kayaks are available if you tell us at least 24 hours ahead.
The part kids remember
After about 60 minutes on the water, we head back to the beach for 15 minutes of show and tell. Your guide lays out what the group netted, such as crabs, shrimp, starfish and small fish, and everyone crowds around to look, ask questions and hold what they found. Every creature goes back into the water afterward.
